Polish fugitive arrested after spotted dating Swedish TV star

Swedish police have arrested a wanted Polish man after the fugitive's relationship with a Swedish television star placed him in the media spotlight.

The detained man is wanted in Poland for assault, drug trafficking and robbery.
Police press spokesman Karol Jakubowski said that having lain low in Sweden, the fugitive “became involved with a star of Swedish show business.
“There were often fights and quarrels between the couple, as the man has a very impulsive character,” Jakubowski claimed.
“Pictures of him together with his partner started to appear on television and in newspapers, and this is how he exposed himself to the police.”
Piotr Z. (full name withheld under Polish privacy laws) was detained under the terms of a European Arrest Warrant, and it is expected that he will be extradited to Poland in the near future. (nh)
