After his arrival, Secretary Kerry made straight from Warsaw's Chopin international airport for the grave just outside Warsaw of the late Tadeusz Mazowiecki, who died last week, Poland's first prime minister after the fall of communism.

Kerry laid a wreath at the grave with the inscription "From the American people," and spoke to the late prime minister's youngest son Michal, who the US secretary of state told that it was a "great honour and privilege" to be at the resting place of such a man.
