Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess Maria Terese will be spending the last day of their visit in Krakow after being hosted by President Bronislaw Komorowski in Warsaw.

The royal couple attended a concert of Chopin's music in the Old Orangerie built by King Stanislaw August Poniatowski, Poland's last monarch, on Thursday evening in the Lazienki Royal Gardens.

With 2014 marking the 70th anniversary of the doomed Warsaw Rising against the Nazi Germans, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess also visited the Warsaw Rising Museum (Luxembourg was officially neutral during World War II but it was occupied by the Germans nonetheless).

They also laid a wreath at Warsaw's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

While in Krakow, the royal couple will be presented with plans for the revitalisation of the industrial district of Nowa Huta, formerly a separate town in its own right.

Luxembourg is the one of the smallest states in Europe, yet it has the second highest GDP in the world (behind Qatar). The land-locked country spans just 2586 square kilometres.

Grand Duke Henri, who is a first cousin of the King of Belgium, ascended the throne in 2000 after his father abdicated. (nh)
