This year, 20 cycling teams entered the race, including four national sides from each of the Visegrad Group countries.

The first, 170 kilometre stage between Polkowice and Wroclaw in south west Poland will be followed by four other one-day stages, two of which will be held in Hungary.

“Wroclaw was intentionally chosen as the city where the Polish stage of the Visegrad Bicycle race will end. It is here that the spirit of Central Europe is present,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk at a press conference on Monday.

Minister Radoslaw Sikorski also led a debate in Wroclaw on Tuesday on the identity of the Visegrad Group (V4) formed in 1991, with the participation of experts from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.

“In European politics, the effects of our cooperation in the Visegrad Group are already visible. And our plans are ambitious,” Sikorski said. (pg)
