Ukrainians offered EU visa-free travel if reforms made

Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said after talks with his Ukrainian counterpart in Kiev, Friday, that an agreement on EU visa-free travel for Ukrainians could be possible by next year.

After signing an agreement between the two foreign ministries, Radek Sikorski said that visa free travel for Ukrainians could be possible “by the middle of next year” if anti-corruption measures are taken plus an anti-discrimination law, a refugee law, a data protection act and the introduction of biometric passports.

"The fight against corruption is also important for the implementation of the agreement with the International Monetary Fund," Minister Sikorski said after talks with Ukraine's foreign minister Andrii Deshchytsia.

Sikorski also appealed t Russia to stop supporting separatist militia in the east of Ukraine before the 25 May presidential elections in Ukraine. (pg)
