“At the Brussels summit European Union countries have to answer whether they are still united on the issue of Ukraine,” Kopacz told reporters.

She added that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to divide the countries of the EU.

“His statements are very clear: he says that everything which is happening in his country - this crisis - is a fault of the West,” Kopacz said.

The head of the Polish government emphasised that “Putin's statements are aimed at sowing discord among EU member states.”

“EU countries which have so far been quite cautious in implementing sanctions, may, after hearing these statements by the Russian President, be even more prudent than before,” Kopacz added. (rg)
