In contravention of European Union law, the Czech government has asked for extra quality controls of Polish food, Polish Radio reports.

In retaliation, the Polish Association of Farmers and Pork Producers and other groups have called for a boycott of Czech beer and farm machinery among other imports from Poland’s southern neighbour. The farmer trades unions are planning a marketing campaign to promote American, Italian and German competitors to the popular Zetor tractors from the Czech Republic.

Polish exports to the Czech Republic are three times the size of imports. (an)
