Kopacz will meet with both Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and President Petro Poroshenko.

She will be accompanied by the heads of Poland's Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA), Supreme Audit Office (NIK), and Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, who will be helping advise on the creation of democratic institutions in Ukraine.

Likewise, Poland's ministers of finance, education, culture, science and higher education, as well as infrastructure and development will also be participating.

Rafał Trzaskowski, Poland's minister for European affairs, has commented that Ukraine is a strategic partner and hence it is in Poland's interests to help the country bring to fruition a wide range of reforms.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities have claimed a victory against Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine, with reports that much of Donetsk airport and the surrounding area was seized by Ukrainian soldiers.

Thousands of Ukrainians took part in a march for peace in Kiev on Sunday, with the death toll in the conflict having now reached 4800. (nh)
