Polish mobile-phone users are among the victims of the latest wiretapping scandal revealed by former US intelligence employee, Edward Snowden.
An online portal Intercept has reported that US and UK intelligence services have stolen data from a manufacturer of mobile-phone SIM cards allowing them to listen in on people’s conversations. Poland is among the major markets for the manufacturer.
Netherlands-based card manufacturer Gemalto has confirmed an investigation into the allegations.
Intercept’s publication, based on fresh documents from Snowden, a former employee of the National Security Agency (NSA), who is now in Moscow, implicates NSA and Britain’s GCHQ. (an)
