The UK’s decision to send military advisers to Ukraine drew praise from Poland’s President Bronisław Komorowski on Wednesday.
British Prime Minister David Cameron is “playing the right tune on Ukraine” with his decision to send military personnel to the war-torn country, Komorowski said.
While Poland has declined to send its own soldiers into the fray or even to ship arms to Ukraine’s beleaguered government, President Komorowski said the UK government’s decision chimes in with Polish strategy.
Poland has not ruled out any form of support for its south-eastern neighbour, Komorowski said, pointing to last year’s agreement to set up a joint Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian brigade.
The UK military personnel will arrive in Ukraine within a few months and will train local soldiers at reconnaissance, logistics, medicine and armed combat. (an)
