Police had been looking for the pair since Sunday after the Poles were reported missing.

A car that is believed to belong to the couple was found near the banks of Lake Langsjon.

The body of a 24-year-old woman was located by divers late on Wednesday night, and that of a 27-year-old man on Thursday afternoon.

The couple were from Nowy Targ, southern Poland, and it is understood that they had gone to work temporarily in Sweden in order to raise money to start a household in their home country.

Although suspicions of murder have been raised, police have noted that they must wait until autopsies have been carried out before launching a full-blown murder inquiry. (nh)
