“As a member of the EU, we are in the club which contributes more than half of all funds spent annually on official development assistance. [Poland’s] presence in this group proves the leap that has taken place in Poland," said Deputy Foreign Minister Konrad Pawlik, who headed the Polish delegation participating in the meeting in the Ethiopian capital.

"But it is also a huge responsibility and a commitment to be active in the international arena, including in the area of development cooperation,” Pawlik said.

The conference is part of a series of international events organised in 2015. It is associated with failing to meet the deadline this year for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MGDS).

The eight-point MGDS include eradicating extreme poverty, reducing child mortality, as well as developing a global partnership for development. (rg)
