Opinion of Russia Largely Unfavorable

"A median of only 30 percent see Russia favourably in the nations outside of Russia,” the survey by Pew Research Center said.

Poles were the most sceptical among their EU counterparts. Only 15 percent of those polled had a positive opinion of Russians. The high negative sentiment in Poland is matched only in Jordan.

In the US, unfavourable opinions strongly exceed favourable ones with 67 percent against 22 percent.

Anti-Russian sentiment is also particularly strong in Israel (74 percent), Japan (73 percent), Germany (70 percent) and France (70 percent). (rg/rk)
