Bruno Muschalik had been in contact with family members throughout his solo trip around India.

He was due to fly back to Poland on 23 August from New Delhi to Warsaw, but he did not appear at the Indian airport.

The traveller was last seen in Manali, northern India, on 8 August.

He was apparently due to catch a bus to the Parvati Valley, a popular destination for trekkers, on 9 August.

According to Indian police, search parties are now looking for the Pole in the Parvati Valley, which is known to have challenging mountainous trails. They are also investigating whether he might have gone to nearby Ladakh.

Friends of the missing traveller have launched a Facebook page with details about the 24-year-old, who hails from Zabrze in Silesia. (nh/rk)
