UK police have claimed that a 20-year-old Polish man was trafficked to the town of Bolton in northern England to perform construction work and was made to sleep in a van.

According to police, the 20-year-old had responded to an online advertisement for paid building work.

He apparently arrived in Bolton, near Manchester, on 17 August, but was instructed to sleep in a white Fiat Ducato that was parked on a street in the town.

He has yet to be paid for any of the work that he has carried out.

From what we have been told, we believe other men may have been staying inside the van,” Detective Constable Phil Warburton commented, as cited by the BBC.

We are obviously concerned of the welfare of these people and are eager to find out if they are okay,” he added.

The van was apparently parked on a road in the town between 4 August and 18 August, but it has since moved on.

The nationality of the suspects who promised the 20-year-old paid work has not been disclosed. (nh)
