Israeli boy dies after Polish canal accident

A 3-year-old Israeli boy died after falling into a canal while on a family boating holiday in south east Poland, Israeli media outlets reported on Thursday.

The child had been in intensive care for two days following Tuesday's accident.
Although media sources have not specified precisely where the accident took place, the Wieprz-Krzna Canal, which runs for 139.9 km from Borowica to Międzyrzec Podlaski, is the only canal in mid-east Poland.
Staff from Poland's foreign ministry are currently accompanying the boy's family, and overseeing arrangements to fly the body back to Israel. (nh/rk)
