Poland confirms EUR 100 million loan for Ukraine

The Polish Council of Ministers has agreed on the terms of a loan worth up to EUR 100 million that will be provided to Ukraine, which will be partially used to purchase Polish goods in return.

“We have agreed with our Ukrainian counterparts that the loan will be allocated to financing the modernization of road infrastructure near the border as well as the construction of border crossings between Poland and Ukraine,” Finance Minister Mateusz Szczurek told a press conference.
According to Szczurek this will help create further links between Ukraine and both Poland and the rest of Europe, with part of the loan dedicated to buying Polish exports.
“The conditions of the loan are that at least 60% of goods must be supplied by Polish companies. However this is not just about helping Polish firms, but also about helping Ukraine- politically and economically, as this is in our interests,” the Minister explained.

Szczurek added that the now finalized agreement will be signed this Wednesday. (sl/jh)
