The royal couple met with President Andrzej Duda and First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, marking the first stop of the Belgian monarchs’ three-day trip to Poland.

Over the next three days, the Belgian monarch is to hold talks with the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska and Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz.

The agenda of the royal visit also includes a seminar on “Innovation in Life Sciences”, held by the Polish Academy of Sciences, meetings with entrepreneurs, and a visit to the Center of Nature and Forestry Education outside Warsaw.

Later today, King Philippe is to attend the signing of agreements between enterprises and academia at the Belgian Embassy.

The Belgian royal couple are paying a return visit to Poland following the 2012 trip to Belgium by then president Bronisław Komorowski, hosted by the parents of the incumbent monarch, King Albert II and Queen Paola. (aba/rk)
