Polish Prime Minister Szydło was met by French President Francois Hollande and the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon upon arrival at the inaugural sitting of the COP21 climate conference on Monday morning.

Szydło announced that she would like to reach an agreement regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by all nations, not only the European Union.

Monday’s opening of the climate conference marked the first meeting of Prime Minister Beata Szydło with the former head of government, European Council President Donald Tusk.

The prime minister was joined by deputy foreign minister Konrad Szymański and Tusk’s advisor Paweł Graś. The meeting was held without press present.

Around 16:30 CET, Tusk tweeted “good meeting with Polish PM @Beata Szydlo in the margins #COP21 climate conference”.

Prime Minister Szydło plans to speak with the head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at an early sitting at the two-week conference. (ua/aba/rk)
