“We’re setting up several interviews and statements,” Marek Magierowski, a spokesman for the president, told reporters.

“In recent weeks a lot of false or manipulated information about Poland has appeared in the foreign media and the President has been keeping track of this.”

Earlier this week, Poland's foreign ministry said it would “demand […] the opportunity to present the Polish position on allegations” contained in a recent CNN report and an article in the Washington Post that portrayed the new Polish government in an unfavourable light.

The CNN report claimed that the Law and Justice (PiS) party, which swept to power in October general elections, had “embarked on a dizzyingly rapid power grab that has drawn comparisons with a coup d'etat.” (pk/rg)
