Permanent NATO and US base in Poland a priority: Defence Minister

The goal of the Polish Defence Ministry is to establish permanent NATO and US bases in the country, Minister Antoni Macierewicz has said.

Macierewicz added that the term of the temporary Patriot missile system could be extended for it to become permanent. He was speaking during a visit to western Poland with the US ambassador to Warsaw, Paul Jones, to see joint Polish-US exercises codenamed "Panther Assurance".
Macierewicz said that Poland wants to strengthen cooperation with its allies, in particular strenghtening the eastern flank of NATO. This will be a priority topic for Poland during the NATO Summit in Warsaw in July.
