The kresy24.pl website, citing Turkish media, reported that Yuri Anisimov and Aleksandr Smirnov have been arrested in Istanbul, suspected of the 2015 shooting of Abdulwahid Edilgeriyev, a relative of Chechen Movladi Udugov, the founder of internet site Kavkazcenter.

kresy24.pl described the portal as an “anti-Putin” website.

kresy24.pl said that hundreds of photographs and other items were found on the two detained men, leading to suspicions that Russian agents were planning “a large intelligence or terrorism operation” in Istanbul.

The two men deny the charges, claiming they are tourists, kresy24.pl reported.
