“We expect to see the 3 'Ps': Presence, presence, presence,” Waszczykowski said as part of a panel of experts entitled “Future of NATO: will Warsaw deliver” during the first day of the GLOBSEC 2016 forum on Friday.

“The presence of troops from various NATO countries could be a symbol of determination to defend the eastern flank,” Minister Waszczykowski said.

Waszczykowski said that the East and South are two main directions of threats and challenges to NATO.

He said that only by taking decisive actions is the Alliance able to deter potential aggressors.

“Showing weakness is often seen as an incentive for aggression,” Minister Waszczykowski said, stressing that NATO's “ability to defend and deter” depends on the geographical distribution of its defence capabilities.

The NATO summit in Warsaw will take place on 8-9 July 2016. (rg)
