Blinken was speaking on Thursday during a two-day visit to the Polish capital during which he held talks with Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski and aides to President Andrzej Duda.

Blinken said that there was no reason at the moment for the West to lift sanctions against Moscow, introduced in 2014 after Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

He said the crisis in Ukraine was sparked by Russia and should be ended by Russia through the full implementation of the so-called Minsk peace agreement. (pk)
