"A topic that unifies [Poles] to a large degree is our membership of the European Union, because there are no serious politicians today who say that we should leave the European Union," Duda told the private Polsat News channel in an interview.

During a pro-EU, anti-government march in Warsaw on Saturday, some demonstrators claimed that the ruling conservative Law and Justice party wants to take Poland out of the EU, adding that the party has weakened Warsaw’s position in the bloc.

The march was held under the slogan “We are and will remain in Europe.”

Law and Justice leader Jarosław Kaczyński rejected claims that his party was opposed to the EU, saying: “We want to be members of the European Union because we want to have an impact on the fate of Europe.” (pk)
