Poland to send fighter jets to battle ISIS before NATO summit?

Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz said that Polish F-16 aircraft could take part in a fact-finding mission against Islamic state (ISIS) before the July NATO summit in Warsaw.

Poland will send four F-16 fighter jets to fight ISIS militants in Syria and Iraq Macierewicz said at a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.

Sending fighter planes to the Middle East will be Poland’s contribution to the international coalition that is fighting against Islamist militants in the region.

Minister Macierewicz added that the planes are currently on standby, and are waiting for the final signature of the Polish president to act. (rg)
