“I would reassure Brits living in European countries and European citizens living here that there will be no immediate changes in your circumstances,” Cameron said.

“There will be no initial change in the way our people can travel, in the way our goods can move or the way our services can be sold.”

Up to a million Poles are estimated to live in the United Kingdom.

In a referendum on Thursday, 51.9% of Britons voted to leave the EU while 48.1% voted to stay, a result that dealt a body blow to the European Union and caused turmoil on global markets.

Credit insurance company Euler Hermes said in a report in the run-up to the British referendum that if the UK were to leave the European Union, hundreds of thousands of Poles would be left unemployed while Polish exports could drop significantly.(pk)
