The equipment was officially handed over in the presence of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko last week.

The counter-fire radar systems are to help Ukraine ward off artillery strikes by pro-Russia separatists and lower the death rate among Ukrainian soldiers fighting in the war-torn region of Donbas, located in the eastern parts of the country.

The handover took place after the US Congress sealed its 2016 federal budget, where policymakers have earmarked USD 335 mln towards bolstering Ukraine’s defence capacity. The allocated funds are also aimed to finance the military training of Ukrainian soldiers.
