Polish president to meet NATO chief ahead of Warsaw summit

Polish President Andrzej Duda is to hold talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday, a day ahead of the alliance’s summit in Warsaw.

The key topics on the agenda will include the final preparations for NATO’s two-day summit in the Polish capital.

“This summit may have a serious impact on NATO’s security policy for many years to come,” senior presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski told Polish Radio on Wednesday. “In the case of such a significant political event, top-level consultations are pursued until the last moment,” he added.

Thursday’s meeting will also be attended by Polish Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski and the National Security Bureau chief Paweł Soloch.

President Duda and Jens Stoltenberg are to open the gathering on Friday afternoon. (aba/pk)
