Trump, 32, told private broadcaster TVN that he knew many Polish people due to his connection with Poland’s neighbor, the Czech Republic.

Eric Trump is the Republican presidential nominee’s son from his first marriage to Czech-born Ivana Trump.

Poles are “amazing” and “tough people,” he added.

He also praised the country for “how far Poland has come in the last ten years.”

On Monday, the Republican Party at its national convention in Cleveland, Ohio, adopted a non-binding platform containing a clause on including Poles in the US’s visa waiver programme. (ał/pk)
