Polish President Andrzej Duda and Panama counterpart Juan Carlos Varela Rodriguez were also expected to take part in the ceremonial signing of a Protocol establishing a mechanism to ease political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, as well as to sign an agreement to facilitate cooperation in tourism between the Polish Republic and the Republic of Panama.

Polish presidential aide Krzysztof Szczerski said ahead of the meeting that this was the first time Polish and Panama presidents have held an official meeting.

The delegation of Panama, in Poland for the World Youth Day, comprises more than 500 people.

It includes government representatives as well as bishops.

Unofficially, it is said that the next World Youth Day may be held in the capital of Panama. Catholics account for 65 percent of the population of that country. (rg)
