The conversation was devoted to Polish diplomatic and business relations with countries of Southeast Asia.

The ambassadors of the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the chargé d'affaires of Malaysia, representing the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), presented Minister Waszczykowski with an outline of the aim of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which was established on 31 December, 2015.

During the meeting they discussed the possibility of increasing cooperation between Poland and the countries of the region.

“We are glad that the ASEAN countries have intensified their economic interrelations, and we hope that they will increase trade with Poland. In 2017, we will re-open an embassy in Manila and will create a Department of Trade and Investment Promotion in Ho Chi Minh City,” Waszczykowski said. (rg)
