The decision by the UK to leave the European Union is not merely a “whim” of the British, but a “mistake of the EU”, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski said on Tuesday.

“The Brexit process has not yet begun. The United Kingdom has not taken any steps to exit the EU. The process, when it begins, will be three-pronged,” said Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski.
“In addition to the UK leaving the EU, they will hold parallel talks on [the country’s] relation with the EU and EU reforms,” the Minister told Polish Radio.
Waszczykowski said that the decision was “not merely a whim of the British, but also a mistake of the EU, which allows for the loss of a member which represents the second largest economy in the bloc”.
“The EU has discussed expanding for so many years, but then loses such an important member, [means that] there is probably something wrong with the EU,” Waszczykowski said. (rg/di)
