The Polish foreign ministry has said it does not recognize the results of recent elections to the Russian Duma held in Crimea, adding that the peninsula legally belongs to Ukraine.

The ministry noted that Poland, together with the international community, “condemned the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia in March 2014.”
“The preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine constitute a crucial condition for the peaceful solution of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict,” the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement.
It added: “In this context, the election of deputies representing occupied territories calls into question the legitimacy of the elections.”
