According to Polish minister Witold Waszczykowski, Brexit should “trigger a reflection within the EU on how to manage new relations between the EU institutions and the member states”.

“Such a discussion should not be limited by any dogmas, as the challenges we are facing urge us to substantially reform the EU,” he added at a press conference in Warsaw on Monday.

The EU should maintain friendly relationships with the UK, the Netherlands' Bert Koenders said.

“We [the EU] are not enemies of the United Kingdom, we want good relations with the United Kingdom,” Koenders said. “At the same time we should negotiate well. The whole process should not take too long. It’s important there’s a clarification as soon as possible about the relationships between the United Kingdom and Europe,” Koenders added. (mo/rg)
