Drills involving an Il-76 transport plane, Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters and drones will take place at the Brestsky training ground in western Belarus from October 18 to 20.

“During the exercise, Belarusian and Russian paratroopers will practice conducting counter-sabotage missions,” the Belarusian Ministry of Defence said.

The exercise is expected to “help exchange experience”.

Russian commandos have previously trained with Chinese and Egyptian soldiers.

Meanwhile, a government bill that would allow Russian participation in foreign military operations not directly related to the Russian defence ministry was submitted several days ago to the Duma, Russia’s lower house of parliament.

According to the Russian opposition, the new law would allow Russian citizens to take part in military activities in Syria and eastern Ukraine. (vb/pk)
