“We strive to maintain transatlantic relations between Europe and the US, we strive for further integration of [our] region,” Waszczykowski said.
He announced that an international conference on EU-NATO partnership will be held on 21 November on Poland’s initiative.
Heading into his second year in the foreign ministry, Waszczykowski said he wants Poland to secure a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council in 2018-2019.
He added: “On the topic of Brexit – Great Britain’s divorce [from the EU] – we want the EU to learn and reflect on why we are losing Europe’s second largest, and the world’s fifth largest, economy.
“In our opinion this shows a mistake made, in part, by European institutions and those institutions should reflect and reform,” he added. (vb)
