NATO on Tuesday criticised Russia's decision to deploy anti-ship missiles in the Kaliningrad exclave bordering Poland, while calling for talks to lower tensions, the AP news agency reported.

According to a NATO statement quoted by the agency, the deployment close to the Western alliance's borders is an act of "aggressive military posturing" that "does not help" to cool tensions.

The Interfax news agency reported that Russia has deployed a unit equipped with Onyx missiles in Kaliningrad.

Last month NATO’s Secretary General said he was concerned about Russia’s deployment of Iskander ballistic missiles in the exclave.
