Minsk is ready to work on expanding business ties with Warsaw, which at the moment do “not reflect our potential,” Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Monday.

He was speaking after meeting Polish Senate Speaker Stanisław Karczewski in Minsk.

Lukashenko said: "Our economic cooperation is at a very high level, but it absolutely does not reflect our potential. We have a lot to work on."

Karczewski, who on Sunday started a three-day visit to Belarus, was to take part in a meeting of the upper house of the Belarusian parliament, during which a Polish-Belarusian agreement on education was to be ratified.

Karczewski was also to sign a joint declaration on cooperation between the Polish and Belarusian upper houses of parliament.

Karczewski’s trip follows recent visits to Belarus by Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Development and Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and by Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski.
