Russia not willing to cooperate at meetings with NATO: Polish FM

At a gathering of NATO foreign affairs ministers in Brussels on Tuesday, Poland's Witold Waszczykowski questioned Russia's willingness to cooperate during meetings with the Western alliance.

An official dinner ending Tuesday's part of the two-day meeting of the ministers was devoted to Russia-NATO relations.
"We support the meetings of NATO countries with Russia, but we are wondering if they are heading towards any particular purpose," Waszczykowski told reporters before the meeting.
"Where do we want this dialogue to go?" he said, adding at the same time that Poland wants the meetings to be held regularly.
At a NATO summit in Warsaw earlier this year, the Alliance adopted a two-pronged strategy towards Russia - deterrence by strengthening the eastern flank and dialogue.
"We accepted resuming talks within the NATO-Russia Council, but so far, little has been achieved. Russia uses these meetings to promote only its own policies, but we do not see any willingness to cooperate," said Waszczykowski.
He added that Poland wants to convince Moscow that NATO does not have aggressive intentions towards Russia nor any other country. (mol/pk)
