Appointed by the European Commission, Prof. Jajszczyk is the only Polish member of the ERC’s 20-member Scientific Council, which oversees the agency’s funding strategies, among other responsibilities.
Established 10 years ago, the ERC had an annual budget of EUR 1.7 billion in 2016.
Jajszczyk is a professor at the AGH University of Science and Technology in the southern city of Kraków.
He joined the ERC’s Scientific Council for a four-year term together with three other academics from other EU countries. The ERC announced the new appointments on Friday. (str/pk)
