Peru is one of the fastest growing economies in South America, with GDP growth in 2016 estimated at almost 4 percent. It is also one of the highest ranked economies in the region, according to the “Ease of Doing Business” report.

BZ WBK experts also noted that the President of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, has Polish roots.

During the first three quarters of 2016, Polish exports to Peru rose by 17.5 percent compared to the same period of 2015.

BZ WBK experts pointed out that mining, in particular copper, silver and gold, accounts for a large part of Peru’s economy. According to them Poland, which has a large mining sector, could provide Peru with machinery and equipment.

Olga Pietkiewicz, head of the bank’s International Desk, said: “Peru needs machinery and equipment for production in many sectors, especially in the agro-food, electrical engineering, chemical and metallurgical sectors.”

Meanwhile, Poland's Development Ministry believes that Peru is interested in purchasing Polish aircraft, including agricultural planes and helicopters. (sl/pk)
