Polish priest appointed Vatican’s nuncio in Rwanda

Roman Catholic leader Pope Francis has appointed Polish priest Andrzej Józwowicz as nuncio, or diplomatic envoy, to the Republic of Rwanda, at the same time elevating him to the rank of archbishop.

Born in eastern Poland in 1965, Msgr. Józwowicz was ordained a priest in 1990. He holds a Ph.D. in canon and civil law.
He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1997, and went on to serve at the Papal Representations in Mozambique (1997-2000), Thailand (2000-2002), Hungary (2002-2006), Syria (2006-2009), Iran (2009-2012) and Russia (2012-2017).
He is fluent in Italian, English, French, Russian and Portuguese. (mk/pk)
