“My heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the terror attack in London,” tweeted Andrzej Duda.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Polish government said that Szydło had sent a note of condolence to May following the attack in Westminster which left four people dead, including a police officer and a man believed to be the attacker.

British media reported on Thursday that seven people had been arrested in a number of raids following the attack.

Britain's most senior counter-terrorism officer, Mark Rowley, said the attack started when a car was driven over Westminster Bridge, near parliament, hitting and injuring a number of members of the public.

After the car crashed, a man armed with a knife “continued the attack and tried to enter parliament”, Rowley said. (rg/pk)
