Under the deal, the Polish and Hungarian parliaments are to increase collaboration in the form of bilateral meetings, joint activities in international parliamentary organizations, and consultations between parliamentary committees on foreign affairs and the economy.

“We want to work together to look for ways out of the European crisis,” said Stanisław Karczewski, the Speaker of the Polish Senate.

He added: "More cooperation is a way for Poland and Hungary to become stronger, for the Central Europe region to become stronger, for the European Union to become stronger. We want the EU to be strengthened by strong, sovereign nations showing solidarity.”

Marek Kuchciński, the Speaker of Poland’s lower house, presented Kövér with a Commander's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, awarded to foreigners by the Polish president for distinguished contribution to international cooperation.
