The talks were expected to touch on topics including economic ties and cooperation on business and investment projects.

Polish government spokesman Rafał Bochenek said the meeting would be “a great opportunity to talk about economic, business and investment cooperation, and to discuss the development of road and gas infrastructure."

Bochenek said that the last such intergovernmental consultations between Poland and Slovakia were held in 2013, adding that the two countries also work together as part of the Visegrad Group.

The Visegrad Group comprises four countries including Hungary and the Czech Republic.
