Karczewski is on Friday scheduled to meet László Kövér, the Speaker of Hungary’s National Assembly.

The Visegrad Group, comprising Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, is a platform aiming to boost regional cooperation. Poland has held the presidency of the group since mid-2016. Hungary takes over from July.

Karczewski said: “I am going [to Hungary] to talk to Speaker Kövér... and parliamentarians about what we have done during this Visegrad Group presidency and what the goals of Hungary are.”

Karczewski is the second senior Polish politician to visit Budapest this week following a trip on Monday by Marek Kuchciński, the Speaker of the Sejm, the lower house of the Polish parliament.

Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydło will visit Budapest early next week.
