The politicians are set to sit down for face-to-face talks at Belvedere Palace before a plenary meeting during which Duda will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski.

The president’s chief-of-staff Krzysztof Szczerski is also expected take part in the meeting, along with the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), Paweł Soloch.

According to Szczerski, the Warsaw talks will focus on “further NATO activities in the region,” including in the context of Russian-Belarusian military drills that are due to take place in Belarus on 14-20 September.

The politicians will also discuss “cooperation with NATO's southern flank” and “the next steps ahead to strengthen security in this part of Europe,” Szczerski said.

Duda and Stoltenberg last met during a NATO summit in Brussels in late May.

While in Warsaw, NATO’s Stoltenberg is also expected to meet with Prime Minister Beata Szydło; the meeting is scheduled for Friday, officials said. (str/vb)
