Items on the agenda include NATO, the EU’s defence policy, and Polish-French cooperation in the arms industry.
Armament modernisation, specifically within the scope of air defence and new submarine purchases for the Polish army, “is of particular interest to the French,” Macierewicz told journalists ahead of the visit.
“[The French side] is willing to discuss the issue of integrating cruise missiles [into Polish submarines], which is a key area of focus to us,” the minister added.
The top officials may also focus on a number of other issues, including the military application of satellites.
“The spectrum of talks is extensive and certainly one meeting will not be enough to cover everything,” Macierewicz stated.
The visit will be held upon the invitation of France’s armed forces minister, Florence Parly. (aba)
