The Polish foreign ministry said it worked with Polish diplomatic posts in the area to help the Poles, adding that other European Union citizens were still waiting to leave the island.

The Polish foreign ministry also said that it is working to ensure the quick return of Poles still in the British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands.

Poland is still monitoring Irma-affected areas with Polish diplomatic posts in Bogota and Havana in touch with Polish nationals in nearby tourist hotspots. (vb)
